Jo Anne Young, 78, went to Heaven peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Acworth, Georgia. She was born on January 30, 1948, to Erskin and Sybil Stepp in Tupelo, Mississippi. She grew up surrounded by family, faith, and music.

Jo Anne graduated from Tupelo High School and spent more than 30 years serving as a teacher's assistant in schools in Tupelo, Mississippi, and Roswell, Georgia. She was known for her love for every child, her encouragement of new teachers, and her special care for autistic children. She had a generous heart, was always willing to help others, and enjoyed cruising whenever she had the opportunity.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband, Thomas Young; her three children, Krista Downing (Matt), Melissa Nelson (Tim), and April Young; seven grandchildren, Christopher Black (Abby), Jordan Downing, Alexis Downing, Hayla Coleman, Wesley Mears, Trenton Schoen, and Kaytee Mears; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Black and Daisy Black.

Visitation will be held on July 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on July 17 at North River Baptist Church, 12090 Hardscrabble Road, Roswell, Georgia. Viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Burial will take place at 2:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia.
