Mrs. Joan W. Aucoin, age 78, of Roswell, Georgia passed away Thursday, February
15, 2024. Joan was born on February 17, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter
to the late Maurice and Joyce Weilbaecher. Joan married Camille in her early 20's, and
they lived in New Orleans for several years. The marriage was blessed with two children,
Jay and Bill. The family moved to Roswell, Georgia in 1979, and the family grew up
In that area.
While in Roswell, Joan's primary focus was being a homemaker, and raising Jay and Bill.
As a Journalism Major, Joan occasionally wrote articles for a local area newspaper. She later
managed the office for a medical group in Sandy Springs, Georgia, for several years.
Joan actively supported the boys with their school sports programs, and scout groups, and
wrote event updates for the newspaper.
While at home, Joan was an accomplished chef, and truly enjoyed celebrating the holidays
and special occasions with the boys and their families.
Joan loved to travel with her family and learn about new places in the U.S. and abroad. She
enjoyed Europe, Central America, and traveled extensively throughout the Continental U.S.
The mountains seemed to be her favorite, especially during the change of seasons when the
leaves were the most colorful.
During football season she loved watching the LSU tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
Her favorite times by far were when the family was spending time together laughing and
joking with each other. Even as she is not here, we know that she is still with us, smiling and
loving our family.
Along with her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her younger sister. She is survived by
her husband and two sons: Jay of Panama City Beach, Florida and Bill of Hillsborough,
North Carolina; 5 grandchildren: Austin, Ashley, Jake, Lauren and Sean; her younger sister, Joy Porter; and two younger brothers, Maurice Weilbaecher and James Weilbaecher.
