Joel Stephen Kummins, age 81, residing in Milton, Georgia passed away surrounded by family on July 3, 2024.

Joel was raised in a proud Jewish home, graduating from Winthrop HS in his hometown, Winthrop, Massachusetts in 1960. He attended Northeastern University in Boston as a Coop student. Joel began his career in the space program as a Coop employee at General Electric in Lynn, MA. He graduated college in 1966 with a BS in Chemical Engineering.
In 1966, right out of college, Joel joined Dow Corning, in Aerospace R&D, moving to Midland, Michigan. He started a family and raised 3 children, Adam, Ryan and Courtney Kummins. Over his 35 year career, he moved the TS&D for Mold making and then Construction; Marketing Development and Marketing Supervisor for Construction Products. By 1980, Joel moved permanently to Marietta, Georgia where he became an active member of Etz Chaim Synagogue, continuing his Jewish upbringing with his family. He was a very successful Sales Manager at Dow Corning, soon promoted to Executive Account Manager. He was instrumental in taking Dow Corning into the Pavement Sealant and Roofing business. Joel received the Distinguished Service Award from the Atlanta Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) for 30 years of contributions to that organization.
Joel Kummins was preceded in Death by his parents, Harry and Rose Kummins; his sister Louise Stein (Arthur), his brother, Bob Kummins (Gloria); and stepson Patrick O'Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carma Kummins; his sons, Adam Kummins and Ryan Kummins (Kate); his daughter Courtney Froy (Brian); Stepchildren, Eric O'Kelley (Beth), Katy McGill (Mike) and Shaena O'Kelley; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; his sister Arlene Klayman, nieces Judith and Cyndy Klayman, Helaine Kummins and nephew Jeff Kummins.
When Carma and Joe married, we became a large, blended family, soon followed by many grandchildren, who enjoyed Holidays together, Grandpa's cookouts and travelling to the beach. Joel began travelling the world in retirement. He enjoyed classic rock and lighthouse photography.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Northside Chapel (12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, GA 30075) Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at 3 PM. The Family will receive friends immediately prior to service at 2 PM. People are welcome to wear a classic rock t-shirt in honor of Joe. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
