John Anderson Stouffer passed away on April 24, 2025. He was a long-time resident of Hagerstown, Maryland and spent his last years in Roswell, GA.
John is survived by sons, Mark Randall Stouffer of Middletown, Connecticut and Joel David Stouffer of Marietta, Georgia, daughter-in-law, Laura Linn Stouffer of Middletown and grandson, Daniel Christian Stouffer, also of Connecticut.
John is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Lee (Snyder) Stouffer; they had been married for 60 years when she passed in 2018. John is the son of Roy Frankin Stouffer and Alberta (Anderson) Stouffer and the brother of Betty (Stouffer) Menhorn and Neomi (Stouffer) Walker, from the Chambersburg, PA area.
John was born July 26, 1932, in Williamson, PA. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving mostly in Germany. He obtained a BS degree in Horticulture from The Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Zoology from Miami University (Ohio). He taught biological sciences at North Hagerstown High School, the Washington Co. Board of Ed. and Hagerstown Junior College. He also had a small gardening business in Hagerstown to help with his sons' college expenses. John was an active member of First Brethren Church and Maranatha Brethren Church in Hagerstown, Maryland, serving as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. In retirement John and Barbara worked for Image Travel and escorted over 30 trips to Europe. While retired, they spent most winters in St. Petersburg Beach, FL and most summers in Cape Rosier, Maine. John enjoyed gardening, travel, Penn State football and spending time with his sons and grandson.
An interment ceremony will be held May 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Georgia National Military Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
