Jon Murrow Stovall, (84), of Duluth, Georgia peacefully passed December 16 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born to Paul Murrow Stovall and Sarah Graham Stovall both deceased.
Jon was born in 1940 in Decatur, Georgia. He was a Georgia native. Growing up he attended First Baptist Church of Decatur with his family. He graduated from Decatur High School and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business administration. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends.
Jon performed Military service with the Georgia National Guard after college at Dobbins Air Force Base, where he would never let anyone forget it, always telling stories from the time he served.
He had a business career in Marine Development Corporation with his two brothers. The corporation formed Stovall Marine, where they were Sea Ray boat dealers and owned several marinas, including Bald Ridge Marina on Lake Lanier, which he managed for approximately 40 years with his beloved dogs by his side.
As an avid outdoorsmen, Jon deeply enjoyed hunting. Deer and Turkey were his favorite to hunt, but he would never turn down any opportunity. He had a deep respect for firearms, hitting the bullseye damn near every time until he died. He also enjoyed spending time out on his farm, tending to the land on four wheelers or tractors, again with his beloved dogs who were with him wherever he went on the farm.
Jon is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Anne Stovall, his daughter Sarah Stovall, his son Jon Stovall Jr, his 5 grandchildren Jon Robert Stovall, Mollie-Grace Farrell Stovall , Abbey Nicole Stovall, Jon Luke Stovall, and William Cade Stovall and his caregiver, Alex Kigondu An avid animal lover, Jon had many Labrador and Golden Retrievers over the years and is survived by his dogs Sugar, Ginny, and Biscuit and the cat Slick.
There will be a visitation at Northside Chapel Funeral Home, 12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, Ga 30075, Thursday December 19th from 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
