Joseph Gunter Daniel, 72, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. His quiet kindness left a lasting mark and will be deeply missed.
Joe had a servant's heart, and he will always be remembered as a thoughtful, genuine person who made others feel seen and cared for. He believed in showing up, lending a hand, and always looking for the good in others.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joe graduated from Sandy Springs High School and went on to attend Jacksonville University before transferring and graduating from Mercer University in Atlanta. A talented athlete, he played baseball for both universities and was later drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, spending two years playing in their farm system.
Joe built a career in tire sales and vehicle maintenance and repair, where he became a trusted "go-to" person for friends and family in need. He was a familiar and welcoming face at Perfect Performance in Roswell, where he worked for many years.
He found joy in coaching his kids' sports teams, playing golf with close friends, and being a steady, loving presence in the lives of those around him. He cherished family traditions such as annual beach trips to Hilton Head Island and camping and skiing on Lake Lanier.
Joe was a faithful member of Northbrook United Methodist Church, serving in many roles over the years, including Church Council, Trustees, Boy Scouts, Stephen's Ministry, and as a beloved member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Audrey Ray Daniel. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Debora Addy Daniel; children, Addy Lausier (Evan) and Grant Daniel; his grandsons, Jackson and Harrison Lausier; brothers, Robert (Bob) Daniel (Deanna) and William (Bill) Daniel; brother-in-law, Richard Addy (Laura); and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 3 PM at Northbrook United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to Northbrook United Methodist Church.
