Mrs. Josephine T Rotkewicz, age 97, of Roswell, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Jo was born on June 25, 1927, in Sheepshead Bay, NY, the daughter of the late Stephen and Belle Williams.
Jo married the love of her life, Leon Rotkewicz. The marriage was blessed with three daughters, Muriel, Deborah, & Helen. Jo and Leo loved each other and enjoyed sharing precious moments and adventures together.
Some of those adventures included moving to St Petersburg, FL and, later in life, to Bell, FL. It was in Bell, FL that Jo enjoyed the country lifestyle which was quite a change from her many years in Brooklyn, NY and St. Pete. Gardening, canning, raising farm animals, and enjoying life kept Jo & Leo busy.
An avid member of her church wherever she lived, Jo was a strong believer. She had many roles in her various churches, including always singing in the choir. In later years she fluctuated between wanting to live to be 100 and being ready to go to The Lord.
Jo moved to St. George Village almost 13 years ago. She was very active singing with the Villagers, playing cards, swimming, and enjoying her friends. Jo had a knack for connecting with people and she touched many lives. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Jo is survived by her three loving daughters: Muriel Schurke (Robert), Dee Wiley, and Helen Duncan; grandchildren Joslyn Daignault (Ricky), Michael Schurke (Sarah), Christina Barnes (Josh), Jarrod Wiley (Kalynn), Kyrsten Fitzgerald (Nick), Jacqueline Duncan; great-grandchildren Trey (Kierstan) Daignault, Talon Daignault, Lola Barnes, Amelia & Alice Schurke, TJ & Oaklynn Wiley, and Grace Fitzgerald. Along with her parents, Jo is preceded in death by her husband Leo, son-in-law Jeff Wiley, and grandchildren Joshua Wiley, Whitney Schurke, and Meghan Schurke.
The funeral Mass for Jo will be at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church on January 8th at 10:30 in the morning. A reception at the church will follow the conclusion of the Mass.
