Joy T. Strachan, 77, of Roswell, Georgia, died on September 2, 2026.

Joy grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she graduated from Central High School and married her childhood sweetheart, Deacon John S. Strachan. Together, they lived for a time in Naugatuck before moving to Bethany, where they built their own home. In 1983, they moved to Roswell, Georgia, where they made their home and raised their family.

Throughout her life, Joy held a variety of jobs, from trim carpentry to surgical technology, before finding her calling in research at Kimberly-Clark. After retiring, she continued to remain active, volunteering at her church for many years. She loved to garden, read, and cook.She also cherished traveling with her husband and creating lasting memories with her family and friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon John S. Strachan, and her parents, Anthony and Eleanor Cocchiarella.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Molly Strachan of Atlanta, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Mitchell Jones of Gainesville, GA; her grandchildren, Jessica Lange, Kalen Strachan, Shelby Strachan, and Ryan Jones; her great-grandchild, Anthony Clevenger; her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Jeanne Cocchiarella; her nieces, Carrie Allen and Tara Barreira; and her nephews, James Strachan, Robert Strachan, and Patrick Cocchiarella.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
