Mary Joyce (Thaxton) Abernathy, age 76, of Roswell Georgia passed away on October 1, 2023. She was born on April 30, 1947, to the late Dean and Grace Thaxton.
A graduate of Roswell High School class of 1965. She retired from the city of Roswell where she worked for over 30 years. Joyce married Herbert Daniel Abernathy in 1966 at Roswell Second Baptist Church. They raised two daughters, Tracy and Tara. Joyce is survived by husband Danny of 56 years, daughters Tracy (Keith) Knight and Tara (Grant) Brown, sister Shirley (Douglas) Strickland, two grandsons Trenton Knight and Cody Knight, and several loving nieces nephews and cousins. She will always be remembered for her love of animals. Joyce loved her family and always put others before herself.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate caregivers at both North Fulton Hospital and Tranquility House at Kennesaw Mountain for their care and support.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 1PM in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends from 11AM until the time of service at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors.
