Joyce Evelyn Hampel age 89 of Milton, GA passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023. Mrs. Hampel, the daughter of Harry and Evelyn Phillips, was born on June 28, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri. Joyce met her future husband of 62 years, Herman A. Hampel, on a blind date in St. Louis in 1956. They would spend the next 25 years together raising their three sons in South County, St. Louis eventually moving to Atlanta in the early 1980's. Joyce worked in various administrative support roles throughout her work career including a position at the FBI. Joyce was a kind and loving mother and a devoted wife. Joyce is survived by her younger sister, Jane Garman and three sons and daughters-in-law: James A. and Deborah Hampel, John E. and Martha Hampel and Robert C. and Patricia Hampel and eight grandchildren, John, Christian, Jack, Sean, John Henry, Quinn and Kate. A small private funeral service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on August 4, 2023 where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, who passed in December of 2018.
