Obituary

Judith (“Judy”) Francisca Erhardt, 88, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away after a lengthy illness on September 29, 2026.

Born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on March 10, 1938, Judy moved to New Jersey in 1960 to seek new opportunities. Judy built a beautiful life from the ground up, through hard work, sacrifice and relentless determination. An avid learner, Judy earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, each while working full-time and raising a family. Judy spent her 35-year career in the nursing field in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Georgia. She retired as a Registered Nurse in 2000 to be the primary caregiver (for 19 years) to her beloved special needs granddaughter, Ansley Erhardt.

On a blind date in New York City, Judy met the love of her life, Johannes (“Hans”) Erhardt, a dashing young man from Germany. Judy and Hans married in 1964 and shared a wonderful life journey together during 62+ years of marriage. They spent their married life in multiple locations, including Germany, New Jersey, Maryland and New York, before settling in Georgia in 1987.

Judy’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who poured her heart into raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. Coming from humble beginnings, Judy believed in education as a powerful tool for self-improvement, and emphasized and supported the educational pursuits of Hans, her children and extended family members. In keeping with her calling as a nurse, Judy was the primary caregiver for multiple extended family members. Judy greatly enjoyed gardening, traveling (particularly cruises), playing casino slot machines and cooking.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Josefa and Guillermo Seoane, and her siblings Evelyn Ocasio, Gloria Ortiz, Ana Ritchie, Maria Rodriguez, Anibal Seoane, Hilda Seoane, Luis Seoane, Nelly Seoane and Elba Slamecka.

Judith is survived by her husband, Hans of Alpharetta, Georgia; her son, Carl Erhardt and his wife, Gwen of Johns Creek, Georgia; her daughter, Karen Krane and her husband, Dan of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; her granddaughters, Ansley Erhardt, Teagan Krane and Natalie Krane; her sister, Carmen Parris of Lipan, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
