JUDITH CAROLYN HOLMES
October 1, 1932, to October 3, 2026
Juju leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength and grace.
Judith Carolyn Holmes, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully and was welcomed into heaven on October 3, 2026, at the age of 94. Juju, as she was known to her loved ones, was born on October 1, 1932, in Chandler Springs, Alabama. She attended Alabama State College for Women, which later became the University of Montevallo.
Juju is preceded into heaven by her loving husband George Preston Holmes. Juju and George met for the first time at a picnic in Talladega. Juju fell in the lake and George jumped in and rescued her. George always joked that she fell in on purpose. George was the love of Juju’s life until he sadly passed away way too early at the age of 52. Juju was also preceded into heaven by her son George Michael Holmes (Mike), her mother and father, Bess and Curtis Horne, her brother Bill Horne, and his wife, Sally. Juju is now at peace in heaven with legs that walk again, body and mind completely healed and new, as she walks with God and her family.
Juju is survived by her daughter, Janet Carolyn Tamucci (Jan), and her husband Mike, her four much loved grandchildren, Michael, Ryan and Griffin Tamucci, and Hannah (Tamucci) Johnson, Hannah’s husband David, her two precious great granddaughters, Opal and Ivy, and her nephew, Steve.
Juju leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength and grace. For 35 years, Juju lived on her favorite place on earth, St. Simons Island, GA, before moving to Marietta, GA in 2022. It was a gift from God that Jan was able to be with Juju the final four years of her life. The loving care she received from Henrietta and Joseph Barr will never be forgotten. Juju never met a stranger and always welcomed friends and family, with her warm hugs and southern cooking. She would literally give you the food off her plate. Juju loved children, animals, and all of God’s creatures. Her warmth, humor, generosity, and smile will never be forgotten.
Juju never met a stranger and always welcomed friends and family, with her warm hugs and southern cooking.
Juju was a quietly spiritual person and loved the Lord. Her church was nature and the ocean for the last 39 years of her life. Juju will be honored by her immediate family with a small private gathering in celebration of her long and beautiful life.
