Karen Kehr Steen-Ramirez, age 66, beloved mother, sister, and aunt, a resident of Sandy Springs, Georgia, passed away on December 4, 2025 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Steen-Ramirez attended North Point Community Church, where she was involved in women's groups for several years, and attended services. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Mrs. Steen-Ramirez attended Montville High School and North Arlington High School. Mrs. Steen-Ramirez attended Nyack Bible College and participated in a mission trip to Haiti in her 20s. She worked as an administrative assistant prior to her illness and subsequent disability. Later, Mrs. Steen-Ramirez married and moved to Vermont where she had her two children. Mrs. Steen-Ramirez is best remembered for her love of her children, and her love of animals – especially abandoned animals. She advocated for them and adopted approximately twenty animals, including horses, cats, and dogs during her lifetime.
Mrs. Steen-Ramirez was a creative – using her artistic abilities to create murals in her youth, and needlepoints and jewelry later in life. Her passion was gardening and cooking and often created new recipes for friends and family. Mrs. Steen-Ramirez had a strong faith and would often share her it with strangers and friends. Mrs. Steen-Ramirez is survived by her husband Alex, two children Kayla Steen and David Steen, sister Susan Pappas, brother William Getch (Kirstie), and nieces and nephews, Fiona Getch, Nicola Getch, Ryan Pappas, Evan Pappas, and Roger Getch.
