Obituary

Kendall Gerald Hunnewell III, 63 of Roswell GA passed away on July 12th, 2026. He was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed.
Ken was born in Oroville, California on February 25th 1963 to Linda MacDonald Hunnewell and Jerry Hunnewell. He lived in many places throughout his childhood, eventually settling in Hackesttstown, New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology. It was here that he met Joan, his wife of 37 years and many of his closest, lifelong friends. After moving to Georgia, Ken worked as a construction estimator before going on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Kennesaw State University.
Ken was a lifelong art and music lover. Most recently, his favorite activity was going to live concerts with his daughters. Ken lived life with a generous spirit, a great sense of humor and a deep appreciation for life's simple moments. He found happiness in the little things like caring for his garden, listening to music, his ceramics classes and tending to projects around the house. More than anything, he loved being with his friends and family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Joan Ward Hunnewell; two daughters, Tara P. Hunnewell and Erin M. Hunnewell Dennis and her husband, Andrew; his parents, Linda and Jerry Hunnewell; and three siblings, Scott Hunnewell and wife, Peggy, of Rising Fawn, Georgia; Tom Hunnewell and wife, Patty, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Laurie Hunnewell Fidacaro and husband Jeff, of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held in Maine – his favorite place in the world – where he will be laid to rest.
For those who wish to pay their respects, the family will be hosting a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 25th from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Crabapple Tavern (12350 Arnold Mill Rd #6, Alpharetta, GA 30004).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his name to the Atlanta Humane Society.
