Leslie Ann Sherman Townsend, age 75, of Alpharetta passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. She was born on January 6, 1948. Leslie was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Barbara and Robert Sherman, her loving and devoted Husband, Rick Townsend and her Daughter, Heather Townsend.
Leslie had a heart of gold, loving her family unconditionally and above all else. Known by her Grandchildren as "Meme", she took great pride in everything they did, every event they participated in and was known to shower you with pictures and stories about them. She had an ease about her, would do anything for anyone and always made a stranger feel like they had a place in our family. Infinitely curious and completely genuine, Leslie never hesitated to ask candid questions or share wisdom on topics that were dear to her. Her selflessness and kindness touched the lives of many. Leslie will be remembered for her unwavering love and generosity and will be dearly missed.
Before retirement, Leslie was passionate about her career in education at Alpharetta Elementary School. During her retirement, she spent much of her time enjoying her 3 Labrador Retrievers, relaxing at the lake, and making sure to embrace quality family time. Her travels included many beach trips and family adventures from New York to Las Vegas. In 2020, she added a new hobby of spoiling her beloved Gracie, an adopted Bichon Poo.
She is survived by her loving Children: Daughters, Lisa Stoughton and Allison Townsend and Son and Daughter-in-Law, Patrick and Shannon Stoughton. Leslie also leaves behind her cherished Granddaughters, Karsyn, McKinley, and Mia Stoughton. In addition, she is survived by her Brother and Sister-in-Law, Craig and Sandy Sherman, Nieces, Grandnieces, Grandnephews and a large circle of friends and family who loved and adored her.
A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Leslie will be held on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 at Northside Chapel in Roswell, GA where the family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00pm followed by a service at 2:00pm. We extend an invitation to all those whose lives were touched by Leslie to join us in commemorating and celebrating her remarkable life and the legacy she leaves behind.
