Magnea Brynja Magnúsdóttir, age 44, passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones. Throughout her illness, Magnea remained a source of strength and support for her husband, Gudni, and their children Kristþór, Margrét Gudrún, and Katrín Rósa. She always gave her best and inspired those around her.
Born in Reykjavík and raised in Keflavík, Magnea was the youngest of four sisters: Kristín Viktoría, Kolbrún Hildur, and Gréta. Her parents are Magnús Kolbeinsson and Margrét Haraldsdóttir. Margrét passed away in 1996, a tragic loss that deeply shaped Magnea's life.
She graduated from F.S. Keflavík in 2000 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing from Winthrop University in South Carolina in 2004. After meeting Gudni in Iceland, she moved to London, where she completed a Master of Arts in Marketing from Kingston University and founded her own record label, Krummi Music.
Magnea and Gudni welcomed their son Kristþór in Reykjavík in 2008, and their daughter Margrét in 2012. In 2013, they relocated to Roswell, Georgia, where they built a loving home. There was always a project going on at the kitchen table. Their youngest daughter, Katrín Rósa, was born in 2016. Magnea often said that her children were her greatest and most valuable project.
Magnea's professional life was as vibrant and multifaceted as her personality. She had a natural gift for connecting people and ideas, which she channeled into a career that blended artistry, marketing, and music. In Roswell, she worked independently, weaving together creative projects with the same care she brought to her home. Her earlier roles in Iceland, whether managing inventory and procurement, leading customer relations, or curating music at Skífan and BT stores, were never just jobs. They were extensions of her love for music and her instinct for storytelling.
She was bubbly and full of life, lighting up every room she entered. Her eye for beauty was unmatched. Whether arranging a space, choosing clothes, or picking the perfect color palette, she made things feel just right. She had a gift for organizing, painting, and finding harmony in her surroundings. Her ability to choose the perfect track for any moment was truly special. People were drawn to her energy, her laughter, and her authentic presence.
Magnea's work was never separate from her life. Her creativity spilled into every corner of the home, and her children grew up surrounded by the rhythm of her ideas. She made space for beauty, for play, and for meaning, always with music in the background.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her.
