Margaret "Peggy" Cranshaw, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ireland, Peggy immigrated to the United States as a teenager, embracing opportunity and building a life grounded in compassion, resilience, and devotion to those she loved.
Peggy spent the majority of her life in Massachusetts, where she raised her children and formed lasting friendships. She later spent several years in Florida before returning to Massachusetts, and then moved to Georgia just over two years ago to be closer to her family in her later years.
A devoted mother, Peggy is survived by her son Joe Guilfoyle, and daughters Kathy Queenan and Eileen Villoutreix. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Nikki Queenan, Jimmy Queenan, Juliana Foster, James Guilfoyle, Shayna Guilfoyle, and Maggie Villoutreix; as well as great-grandmother to one great-grandson, Clark Hatchfield.
Peggy was a hardworking woman throughout most of her life. She met every challenge with quiet strength and determination. She loved spending time with her family and friends, helping others however she could, and sharing her sass with the world. Her quick wit and spirited humor brought joy to those around her and remained a defining part of her charm throughout her life.
Above all, Peggy loved her family deeply, cherishing time spent together and celebrating each milestone with pride and joy. Her legacy of kindness, perseverance, laughter, and unconditional love lives on in all who knew her.
As someone who carried the heart of Ireland with her, Peggy embodied the warmth, strength, and spirit of her homeland. She often drew on her Irish roots to guide her through life's challenges with grace and humor. In that spirit, we honor her with an old Irish blessing:
"May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
