Obituary

Marian S. Jones, age 96, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on October 8, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 11, 1929, to Joseph and Isolde Stross. She attended Ursuline Academy, then Good Samaritan Nursing School. She began working at Cincinnati General Hospital as a pediatric nurse, when she met the love of her life, Forest Jones, while he was completing a pediatric residency. They married on January 19, 1952 and enjoyed 68 years together, spending 53 of those years raising a family in Decatur. Family was everything to Marian. She instilled a legacy of love and faith in her children and grandchildren. She put her nursing career on hold, creating a loving home for her 6 children with their many sports and activities. There was always a hot homemade dinner on the table every night!

Marian and Forest were long time members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. They were active in many facets of parish life, including a prayer group; members of which have remained friends with her to her final day. She had her family at Mass every Sunday without fail.

Her grace and kindness will be missed by many, especially her friends, including residents and staff at St. George Village community where she spent the past 20 years. She filled her days playing bridge, Mahjong, bingo, and many other games and activities. Most of all she enjoyed visits from her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, meeting her newest great grandchild just 6 days before her passing. She was proceeded in death by her husband Forest Jones, son Allen Jones, brothers Jack Stross and Jim Stross, and sister, Carolyn Herrmann. She is survived by sisters, Phyllis Mink and Linda Price, both of Cincinnati, her 5 children; Stephen Jones (Alesia) of Marietta, Scott Jones (Emily) of Decatur, Linda Henderson (Rick) of Peachtree Corners, Renee McDaniel (Tom) of Roswell, and Cindy Stone (Wayne) of Mandeville, LA; Daughter-in-law, Evie Jones of Duluth; 16 grandchildren, Kristi Herndon, Robin Zoubek, Matthew Jones, Bennett and Parker Jones, Ansley Belton, Grace Bushong, Nicole Henderson, Carly Jones, Cassidy, Mallory and Connor McDaniel, Emily, Brett, Bryan and Haley Stone; 8 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, and/or United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia, American Parkinson's Disease
Association (APDA).

A funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, with a reception following in the parish hall. A graveside service will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
