Mrs. Marion Kaple, age 83, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Friday, January 13, 2023. Marion was born on November 9, 1939 in Watertown, South Dakota, the daughter to the late Charles and Aletta Keeler.
As a young woman, Marion found her calling in the Church and joined the Sisters of St. Francis in Rochester, MN. Marion left the Order in 1968 when she moved to Atlanta. There she met and married the love of her life, Donald Kaple. Marion and Donald were true soulmates who shared a lifelong passion for spiritual self-development and discovery. They were blessed with a daughter Katie in 1969, and a son Daniel in 1972.
Marion dedicated her career to continued medical education. She was an accomplished education coordinator and administrator, working with the Emanuel Medical Center in Omaha NE, Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta Georgia, and the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC.
Upon retirement, Marion and Donald moved to Jonas Ridge in the Appalachian mountains of NC. Marion devoted remarkable time, energy, and love to her religious communities including becoming a Cojourner of the Sisters of St. Francis. Following the passing of her beloved husband, Marion returned to the Atlanta area, becoming an active member of the Contemplative Outreach of Atlanta and St. Thomas Aquinas small faith group.
Marion was an incredibly loving, giving, capable and resilient person. Her kindness and warm personality touched many people and she maintained many lifelong friendships.
Along with her parents, Marion is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kaple, and her cherished daughter, Katie Kaple Hummel. She is survived by her son Dan Kaple, his wife Franya Hutchins and child Lily Hutchins of Pittsburgh, PA, son-in-law Frank Hummel, and loving granddaughters Anna and Claire Hummel of Woodstock, GA.
The funeral service to honor the life of Marion Kaple will take place at ten o' clock in the morning on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, GA.
