In loving memory of Dr. Mark D. Ryan, we celebrate the remarkable life of a cherished husband, devoted father, esteemed doctor, and honorable veteran. Mark passed away on January 3, 2024 at the age of 55, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his wife Mary K. Ryan and three children Seth Ryan, Brittany Ryan, and Blake Ryan. He is also survived by his father Daniel Ryan, mother Barbara Ryan, and two brothers and sister-in-laws, Steve Ryan, Autumn Ryan, Eric Ryan, and Dawn Ryan, as well as many cousins, loyal friends, and extended family.
Born on April 10, Mark was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Fairmont, West Virginia, where he developed a deep sense of compassion and a strong desire to serve his community. This passion led him to pursue a career in medicine, and he went on to graduate from West Virginia University with honors. Throughout his career, Mark touched the lives of countless individuals, providing care and healing with unwavering dedication. After retiring from the medical field, he used his expertise to work in Cybersecurity for Fiserv.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mark found immense joy in his roles as a husband and father. He was a pillar of strength and support, always there to lend a listening ear, offer guidance, and shower his family with unconditional love. His devotion to his beloved wife Mary was unwavering, and their bond served as an inspiring example of true partnership.
As a father, Mark was a constant source of inspiration and encouragement to his children Seth, Brittany, and Blake. He instilled in them the values of compassion, integrity, and resilience, guiding them on their individual paths with wisdom and love. His legacy will live on through his children and the values they carry forward.
Mark also proudly served his country and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander veteran after 24 years of service. His commitment to his fellow citizens was evident in his selfless service and sacrifice. Mark exemplified courage, honor, and patriotism, and his contributions to our nation will never be forgotten.
In addition to his professional and military achievements, Mark had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. He had a passion for his family, golf, and working with charities like the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation, DAV, Gary Sinise Foundation, and Homes for Our Troops, which brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with others on a deeper level. Mark possessed a warm and welcoming spirit, and his presence lit up any room he entered.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief at the loss of such an extraordinary individual, we find solace in knowing that Dr. Ryan's legacy will continue to inspire and impact our lives. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, esteemed doctor, and honorable veteran. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
A private family graveside to honor the life of Dr. Mark Ryan will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), in memory of Dr. Mark D. Ryan.
