In Loving Memory of Marsha Hoyle Scales
December 6, 1939 – May 21, 2026
Marsha Hoyle Scales, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on December 6, 1939, Marsha was the beloved daughter of Earl Augustus Hoyle and Thelma Louise Berry Hoyle. She grew up in Indian Head, Maryland, and attended Lackey High School. She lived a life grounded in love, strength, and devotion to her family. Marsha worked for the federal government during her career, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Marsha will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kindness, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with those she loved most. Her presence brought comfort, warmth, and a sense of home to everyone around her.
She also embraced life's simple pleasures. Marsha loved traveling and enjoyed time at casinos, where she found excitement and fun. She had a sharp mind and took great pleasure in working crossword puzzles, and she found comfort and joy in reading. These hobbies reflected her curiosity, independence, and appreciation for both adventure and quiet moments.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke S. Scales, whom she loved dearly.
Marsha is survived by her loving daughters, Linda K. Miller of Rockingham, Virginia, and Lisa A. Miller of Alpharetta, Georgia; and her cherished grandson, Colt Miller of Alpharetta, GA. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral and burial will be held on June 14 at 12:30 p.m. at Boyds Presbyterian Church and Cemetery in Boyds, Maryland. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life. Following the service, a reception will be held in Pollock-Williams Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
