Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marvin Lee Whitmire, who peacefully went to be with his Lord on October 27, 2025. Marvin was born on February 13, 1943 in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Marvin loved his family and was a dedicated husband to his wife, Judy, and a devoted father to Cindy and Cathy. He was a proud grandpa, known as Papa, to Jacob, Carly, Jackson, Evan, Matthew, and Melisa.

Marvin enjoyed strumming his guitars and in his early years enjoyed playing with a small band of friends. He loved camping at the lake and teaching his girls how to ski. He also enjoyed trout fishing in the mountains with his son-in-law, Steve. Marvin was a dedicated coach for his girls softball teams. In his latter years, he enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren's games, whether it be football, baseball, track or soccer. Marvin loved tinkering in his workshop and could fix anything. You might find him riding around town in his red corvette. Marvin had a gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

Marvin had a deep-rooted faith in Jesus and read his bible daily. He loved First Redeemer Church, where he was a devoted member of the choir for 25 years.

Marvin was predeceased by his mother, Doris Whitmire; his father, Arbin Whitmire; sisters, Virginia Fretwell, Christine Guest; and his son-in-law, Steve Dickman. He is survived by his wife, Judy Whitmire; his daughters, Cindy Dickman and Cathy Bell; his grandchildren, Jacob Dickman, Carly Dickman, Jackson Dickman, Evan Bell, Matthew Dickman (Melisa); and his brother, Alvin Whitmire (Jennifer). Marvin is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
