It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Ann Cowan Bridges, who peacefully passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 95.
She was born June 20, 1929, in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she grew up and then later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband, Lon Mabry Bridges, Jr., and a devoted mother to her children, Betty Carol Spruill, Margaret Lynn Sims, Julie Ann Shelton, and Susan Elaine McDonald.
Mary Ann lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She loved to sing and sang for years in church choirs. She had a passion for spending time in the sun both on Lake Lanier and Lake Sinclair and enjoyed riding in the boat and even did some skiing in her younger years. She enjoyed reading and took painting classes once a month with friends at Brookdale Senior Living.
Mary Ann was a kind and generous soul, always putting others' needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her involvement in the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class at First Baptist Roswell, as well as her years of blessing others by giving bouquets of cut flower arrangements.
She is survived by her four daughters, Betty Carol Spruill (Richard), Margaret Lynn Sims (Les), Julie Ann Shelton (Danny), and Susan Elaine McDonald (Dan), seven grandchildren, Kevin, Zach (Kyra), and Kelsey, Clark (Tasha) and Katie, and Joy (Jorge) and Hope (Kyle), and one adorable great-grandchild, Judah, all of whom will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA 30075. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00am at First Baptist Roswell, 710 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA 30075. An interment service will be held for immediate family members on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 10:30 am at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to either Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at the American Lung Association or Waymarkfoster.org (Royal Family Kids Camp) in memory of Mary Ann Bridges.
Rest in Jesus, dear Mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
