Mrs. Melody Hargrove of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. Melody was born on November 29, 1948 in Newton, Massachusetts, the daughter to the late Loring and Liberty Lyford.
Melody moved to Georgia for college, where she married the love of her life, Wally Hargrove, at the University of Georgia. The marriage was blessed with two children, Scott and Tyler. Melody and Wally celebrated 52 years of marriage last November and together with Scott and Tyler growing up, created a happy and loving household.
Melody was a special education teacher with Gwinnett County Schools for thirty years. She loved children and took great pride in making an impact on young lives. Her colleagues and parents of her students would speak glowingly of how she'd go above and beyond to help with their development.
She loved the beach and the outdoors. Her "happy place" was sitting on the beach on a sunny day with a breeze, sipping on a cold drink and immersed in a good book. There were many fond memories of Spring Break trips to Florida, as a family and with close friends.
Melody was proud of her children and later in life, her two grandchildren. Over lunch or a game of Bunco, it brought her great joy to share news and excitement of her family with friends. Whenever her oldest grandchild would visit, it was standard for a new arts and crafts project to be waiting.
Melody had a knack for connecting with people and she touched many lives. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Wally Hargrove; two loving sons; Scott Hargrove and Tyler Hargrove; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Hargrove; sister, Sherry Garcia; two grandchildren, Sarah Kate Hargrove (7) and Ella Hargrove (4 months); and many friends.
The visitation for Melody Hargrove will take place at 12 noon on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Northside Chapel at 12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, Georgia. The funeral service to honor the life of Melody Hargrove will be one o' clock in the afternoon following the visitation. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.
