Mrs. Meredith Agler, age 77, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. Meredith was born on May 14, 1946 in Brewster, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Edna Johnson. Meredith married David (Dave) Agler on October 9, 1965, and they lived in Parma, Ohio for 10 years. The marriage was blessed with three children: Gwen, James (Jamie), and Scott.
In 1979, the family moved to Alpharetta, and they found their new church home at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Meredith began working as a Special Needs Paraprofessional at Kimball Bridge Elementary and later, Alpharetta Elementary where she blessed the lives of the children in her care. After retirement, Meredith stayed active by finding joy in taking care of teachers' children, becoming their "Mere".
Over the years, Meredith pursued many hobbies. An avid reader, she taught her children the joys of reading, and they fondly remember frequent trips to the library. Gardening gave her many hours of happiness as she loved tending her plants and flowers. Feeding the hummingbirds and cardinals which graced her yard was a special activity.
Neighbors and family alike both benefited from Meredith's baking skills. After Cookie Day, neighbors were the recipient of decorated cut-out cookies. Meredith enjoyed baking special cakes for her children's birthdays. One memorable cake was an R2-D2 confection that she baked utilizing regular cake pans.
Meredith volunteered for several organizations over the years, including Tiny Stitches, an organization that sews layette sets for newborns in the North Georgia area.
Meredith stayed in touch with lifelong friends from Ohio and loved meeting with friends in Alpharetta for a lunch date and other outings.
Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Albert Johnson, and her stepfather, Oren Hauenstein. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dave Agler as well as Gwen and Randy Wyles of Grandview, Tennessee; James and Tanya Agler of Woodstock, Georgia; Scott Agler of Lula, Georgia and Megan Agler of Cumming, Georgia. She was the proud grandmother of ten: Ellie Agler, Alison Peterson, Sarah Peterson, William Agler, Michael Agler, Hannah Agler, Carrie Agler, Matthew Agler, Corbin Agler, and Kyle Agler. She is also survived by her brother, David (Jane) Johnson, of Canton, Ohio and her nieces Sharon (Stan) Arner and Janie Wright. She also loved her dog, Corky.
