With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Steven Parrish, Sr., age 71, of Eatonton, Georgia, on October 12, 2024. Mike was a remarkable man whose kind heart, unforgettable sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family left an everlasting mark on everyone who knew him. With a heart as big as his laugh, he loved nothing more than spending time with his beautiful wife of 42 years, adult children, and his treasured granddaughter.
Born on April 9, 1953, in Miami, Florida, to the late J. Gid and Jean Parrish, Mike moved with his family to Georgia in 1955, where they settled in Decatur. After graduating from Shamrock High School, he served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. He later earned his B.A. in Business Management from Mercer University in Atlanta in 1984.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Candy Parrish, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge; his devoted son, Michael Parrish, and daughter-in-law Lindsay; his cherished granddaughter, Lily; and his loving daughter, Caitlin Kreidler, and son-in-law Ryan. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Jim) Crutchfield, his brother, J. Gid (Susan) Parrish, and all his nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Before his retirement, Mike dedicated his career to PepsiCo/Frito-Lay, but he found his true happiness in life on the lake. He spent his retirement fishing, sharing stories and jokes, and savoring every opportunity to sleep in. Mike found peace on his porch, spending countless hours on the porch, watching for his favorite heron and listening to music that inspired some iconic dance moves.
Mike's warmth, quirky jokes, heartfelt hugs, and effortless way to make friends wherever he went will forever be cherished by his family and friends. His passion for life and unwavering love for those closest to him will forever be remembered and deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 3pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell, Georgia.
