Obituary

Michelle Damian Campbell, 51, of Milton, Georgia, ended her battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer on September 17, 2023. She was surrounded by family when she passed away and she was lifted up by the love of the incredible community Michelle built in Cleveland, Boston, Miami and Milton, Georgia.
Michelle was born to Armando B. Damian, Jr., M.D., and his late wife, Carmencita C. Damian, M.D. on March 4, 1972 on the West side of Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School (formerly Notre Dame Academy) and received a bachelor's degree from Boston College in 1994. Michelle met her husband, Michael L. Campbell while they were undergraduates in Boston and they continued to date while she attended Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, DC. After Michelle earned her Juris Doctor in 1996, she relocated to Miami and started her law career at ADP (formerly Vincam Group). Michelle and Michael married in 2000, establishing the fairytale love story that would continue throughout their lives together. They went on to raise three children, who she loved fiercely, tirelessly, and endlessly. Michelle was a talented lawyer who excelled in her career, which brought her to Milton, Georgia in 2006. It was here that she built a community of friends who cheered alongside her as she balanced her career with her most favorite job: a football, basketball, and track and field mom.
In 2012, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer within two weeks of her own mother receiving this diagnosis. They joined their iron wills together to battle the disease and both cases went into remission. In 2017, Michelle learned that her cancer had returned as stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. From that moment, Michelle and her family chose courage, strength and hope to move through this devastating blow. Throughout the many highs and lows of this disease, she has had the steadfast love and support of Mike, her kids, her family, and many friends to light the way forward. And anyone who knew Michelle – whether for a minute or decades, in real life or on social media – knew she was the brightest light of all. Michelle remained focused on the present and believed in the healing power of love and joy. She soaked in every bit of color the world brought her through sunflowers, hydrangeas, butterflies, hummingbirds, rainbows, and sunsets. She made the world a more lovely place for others with her many acts of love that manifested as thoughtful cards, sassy jokes, gestures of kindness, commitment to equality and dedication to bringing more hope to people living with metastatic breast cancer.
Michelle was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Carmencita. She is survived by her Honey of a husband, Michael. She was the proud Mama bear of Damian, Nina, and Grant. She is also survived by her father, Armando, her sisters, Cheryl, and Rachel (Andrew Burrows) and her treasured niece, Parker Burrows.
Michelle's family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support, a true testament to the positive impact she made on the many people she encountered during her life. All are invited to join the celebration of Michelle's life at the following events:
