Millie Taylor
Nothing can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Mildred W. (Houston) Taylor joined the Heavenly Reunion Monday evening July 30, 2012. Millie was born December 5, 1925 in Colquitt, Ga. She was preceded in death by husbands Henry L. Houston and Dr. John E. Taylor, Jr., parents Ruben and Willie Mae Widner, sister Katherine Harmon, brother-in-law Earl C. Harmon and Dr. Taylor's son, John E. Taylor III. Mildred, known to her friends as Millie, was a long time resident of Decatur and Atlanta having moved to Decatur in 1948 to start her family. She was a dedicated member of North Decatur Road Baptist Church (formerly Emory Baptist Church) and Embry Hills United Methodist Church. Gardening, playing bridge and traveling were some of her many hobbies but her greatest love was the game of golf. An avid golfer for almost 50 years she was a beloved member of Druid Hills Golf Club and the Georgia Womens Golf Association. Among her many golfing accomplishments, the two she was most proud of were winning the Druid Hills Golf Club Women's Championship and scoring 5 holes-in-one during her golfing career. As much as she loved golf and her golfing buddies, nothing could match the love and dedication she had for her family. She is survived by her son, Philip L. Houston Sr. and wife, Carol (Alpharetta), daughter Phyllis L. Teel and husband Kerry (Canton), Dr. Taylor's sons: Steve Taylor and wife Diane (Columbus), David Taylor (Fl) and Brett Taylor (Tucker) Grandchildren: Tina Teel (Conn.), Philip L. Houston Jr. and wife Alli (Johns Creek), Dr. Suzie McCullough and husband John (Birmingham, Alabama), Lana Houston Barton and husband Eric (Atlanta) and Kelly Russell and husband Glen (Houston, Tx.), Ashley Saville (Va), Yancey Taylor (Va), Matt Taylor (Fl), Ryan Taylor (Atlanta).
