Nan Caroline Harman-Dempsey, of Alpharetta, passed away peacefully on February 13th at the age of 80. She died from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Nan was born on June 19th, 1942 to the parents of Hill and Fannie Harman in Atlanta GA. A graduate of Milton High School she continued her education at Young Harris and eventually finished her studies at John Marshall Law School. Nan passed the Bar Exam in 1991 and began practicing as a Lawyer.
In 1981, Nan married her long time boyfriend, Robert "Cal" Calvin Dempsey. They traveled the world together until his passing in 1991. A women of strong faith, Nan believed that she would be reunited with her husband and family who have previously passed.
Later in life she was heavily involved with the Alpharetta Historical Society, the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, as well as many charities.
Visitation will be held at the Northside Chapel on Thursday, February 16th from 5 pm to 8 pm. and Friday from 2PM until the time of service at the church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17 at 2:30 pm at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Dr. Don Martin will be officiating the service. Nan will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpharetta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the vision research organization of your choice or Arthritis Foundation.
