Nancy Elizabeth Stanfield lived her life fully, generously, and with abounding love. She was a devoted and supportive mother, grandmother, and friend. Few have left a better legacy for others.
Nancy was surrounded by those who loved her when she died peacefully in her residence on February 16, 2023. Although she lived her entire life in Georgia, that did not stop her from exploring the world and personally engaging with everyone she met. She was a warrior who fought many health challenges while never giving up on being with those she loved and doing what gave her joy. Nancy has been a role model and inspiration to all who knew her.
She grew up in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, and attended college at Georgia Southern. Nancy was a highly regarded employee of Hewlett-Packard and Hewlett Packard Enterprise for many years. Through that employment, Nancy met and created a circle of long-term friends who still remain close.
Nancy had the gift of making everyone feel special and welcome, no matter the surroundings. Her laugh was infectious, and some of her best laughs would come at her own expense. She was always kind and friendly. Nancy loved to share wonderful pictures and stories of her travels with her family, including her young grandsons. She would bring them books about the places she had traveled, prompting requests for future trips with "Gigi". She took special pleasure in her role as grandmother, making sure her home was full of special treats for her grandsons when they visited and engaging in nightly video visits either reading bedtime stories or just hearing about her grandsons' days. There was no greater honor and pleasure for Nancy than being known as "Gigi" to her grandsons.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Kristin Reid (Jonathan), grandsons Jackson and Bennett, her brother Scott Stanfield (Kitty), and multiple cousins.
Per Nancy's instructions and request, there will be no service at this time. In the future at an undetermined time, a Celebration of Life will be held for remembering and honoring Nancy.
