Obituary

Oscar Louis Fleckner, Jr., age 85, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on October 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ann and Oscar. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his devoted brother, Doug; Sister-in-law, Jan; his son, Bradley, and daughter-in-law, Allie; and his beloved grandsons, Everett and Charlie, who brought him endless joy and pride. His family will forever cherish his humor, his unfailing honesty, his kindness, his generosity, and the memories of the moments they shared. The lessons he imparted and the love he gave will continue to shape the generations that follow him.

A graduate in mathematics from both The Ohio State University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Oscar enjoyed a distinguished career with IBM, where he served in a variety of roles, including programmer, software architect, systems engineer, and senior program manager. His intelligence, critical thinking skills, and dedication served him well throughout his career. The friendships and connections he made during his tenure with IBM lasted a lifetime.

One of Oscar’s greatest legacies was his generous heart and his dedication to children and family. Together with Mary and Bradley, he opened his heart and home as a foster father to fourteen children, offering care, compassion, and a safe place to belong. His willingness to make room in his life for others speaks to the kind of man he was and the lasting difference he made in the lives of so many.

Oscar will be remembered for the life he built, his professional accomplishments, his devotion to his family, and the many lives made better because he was a part of them, Though his passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy lives on through all those who knew him and the family who will carry his memory forward.
