With gratitude for a life well lived and faith in God's promises, we celebrate the life of Peter Jay Russell, who entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on March 16, 1946, in Syracuse, New York, Peter was the beloved son of William and Marion Russell. One of five brothers, he grew up in the close-knit communities of upstate New York, where he developed the values of hard work, perseverance, faith, and family that would define his life.
He pursued higher education and earned his bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University before proudly serving in the Army National Guard.
Peter enjoyed a successful career as a Global Accounts Manager with Arrow Electronics, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike through his integrity, professionalism, and genuine care for people.
While Peter found fulfillment in his career, his greatest joy was always his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who delighted in every milestone, achievement, and memory shared with his children and grandchildren. He celebrated their successes enthusiastically, encouraged them through challenges, and never missed an opportunity to let them know how deeply they were loved.
Peter had a special appreciation for life's simple blessings. He loved being outdoors—whether tending to his yard, enjoying a day at the beach, or heading out for a run. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and cherished the years spent coaching his children's sports teams, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A devoted Catholic throughout his life, Peter's faith provided a steady foundation and guided the way he cared for others. To know Peter was to experience the warmth of his remarkable presence. His smile could light up a room and soften even the hardest day. He possessed a generous and compassionate heart, and when he spoke with you, he made you feel as though you were the only person in the world. He listened fully, cared deeply, and had a rare gift for leaving people feeling lighter, more hopeful, and genuinely valued. His kindness touched countless lives, and his legacy will live on in the many people he encouraged, supported, and loved.
Though his family and friends will miss him dearly, they find comfort in knowing that Peter is now in the presence of the Lord he faithfully trusted throughout his life. We rejoice that he has been welcomed into eternal peace and reunited with those who have gone before him.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Peter's life will be held at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in
Roswell, Georgia, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow in the parish hall. A livestream of the celebration will be available for those unable to attend.
