Richard Plachta, of Roswell, GA, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023. Rich was born on January 7, 1952 in Chicago, IL, son of the late Frank and Betty Plachta. Rich had two siblings, Pam (Vickner) and Kevin, along with an extensive family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rich attended Quigley South High School and then Niles Preparatory Seminary, where he received an undergraduate degree from Loyola University. He went on to earn a master's degree in accounting from DePaul University, along with his C.P.A. While in school, Rich not only formed life-long friendships, but met the love of his life, Mary Ann. Rich and Mary Ann married in 1974 and were blessed with three wonderful children: Matt, Beth, and Michael. They were so pleased when Caitlin and Noelle married into the family.

Rich loved all dogs, an affection that is shared by the entire family. He was an avid lover of all sports (especially Chicago teams), playing golf and tennis, winning at team trivia, spending time with family and friends, and celebrating with people.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, GA, on Friday, March 31st at 10:30 am. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall.

Those wishing to make a donation instead of flowers are invited to contribute to the Atlanta Humane Society or the St. Vincent de Paul – St. Peter Chanel Conference food pantry.
