Obituary

Robert Farr Story, age 71, of Atlanta, Georgia died Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Bob was born April 9, 1951, in Augusta, Georgia to the late Lawrence F. "Buck" Story and Erline Helmly Story.
Bob attended public schools in Harlem, Georgia and graduated from Harlem High School in 1969. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville in 1973.
After teaching high school for a year, Bob moved to Key West, Florida, where he opened a gift shop and florist. His interests then evolved more to art and decorating. For many years, he had an art gallery and framing business, first in downtown Atlanta, and then in Roswell. This work often involved Bob's assisting with clients' other decorating needs, both in their homes and/or businesses. As the framing business turned more to national chain stores, Bob's focus became home decorating. He became a preferred stager for many successful realtors in the north Atlanta area. Throughout Bob's career, in addition to his excellent eye for color and coordination, his treatment of his clients as friends generated a successful and fulfilling career.
Bob was active in church throughout his life in various cities where he lived, including Atlanta, Montreal, Roswell, and Woodstock. His final church home was Life Journey Church in Indianapolis, where he lived a short time before returning to Atlanta.
Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a sister Tia Vivian Story and his former life partners Jon Hall and Stephen Hartzburgh. He is survived by his brother Richard Story (Nancy) of Gainesville, Georgia; his sister Angela Story Gray (James) of Roswell, Georgia; nieces Laura Story Droms (Matthew), Elizabeth Story North (John), and Victoria Gray Lambo (Larry); nephews William Story (Starr) and Blane Gray (Amy); great niece Caroline Droms and great nephews Jacob Droms and Samuel Lambo.
A private graveside family service to honor the life of Bob Story will take place at one o'clock on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Harlem Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Doctor Dee Shelnutt officiating. Those wishing to do so may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
