Rodopi Tzefronis, beloved Mother and Yiayia peacefully passed away on Nov 3, 2025 at the age of 85 in her home in Dunwoody, Ga surrounded by her children, grandchildren and close loved ones.
Rodopi was born on April 21, 1940 in Pisoderi, Greece, to the late Lazarus and Theodora Hasos. In 1965, Rodopi married Costa Tzefronis and subsequently, in 1970, they immigrated to the United States. She worked diligently as a talented seamstress, adapted to American culture while strongly honoring the rich traditions of her homeland.
A devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta, Ga, and eventually a member of the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Marietta, Ga, Rodopi's unwavering faith guided and enriched her life.
Rodopi was the heart and matriarch of her family, expressing her love through her cooking and caring for family and friends. She was happiest in her kitchen, where she generously shared her legendary recipes. She was also an extremely talented seamstress having spent seven years of her early adult life in Chios, Greece managing a girls school. Her wisdom, generosity, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rodopi was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and beloved husband of 54 years, Costas.
She is survived by her loving children: Katerina Gavalas and her husband Victor; Peter Tzefronis and his wife Megan; grandchildren George Gavalas (Rachel), Constantine Gavalas (Courtney), Sophia Gavalas (Joseph), Kate Tzefronis, Olivia Tzefronis, and Charlie Tzefronis.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, Nov 14th at 2:00pm at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, Ga 30075.
