Obituary

Ronnie Lee Long

Ronnie Lee Long, age 85, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1941, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Thelma Grace Powers.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, his son, Michael, and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Ronnie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was very proud of his service as a Marine, a part of his life that remained important to him throughout the years.

He attended Guilford College and went on to build a career in finance, investments, and insurance. He spent many years with The Phoenix Company, managing offices in both Atlanta and Charlotte, North Carolina. He raised his family in Charlotte and later in the Marietta/Roswell area.

Ronnie found great joy in being a father to Mike and Angela and a grandfather to Micah and Dylan. Family was an important part of his life, and he cherished the time he spent with those he loved.

Myrtle Beach was Ronnie’s all-time favorite place. For many years, he had a place there and enjoyed going as often as he could. He was happiest sitting by the ocean, watching the waves, enjoying the local entertainment, and, of course, eating fantastic seafood.

Ronnie was also an avid golfer—although he would probably be the first to admit that he wasn’t necessarily a great one! He especially looked forward to his Saturday rounds with his longtime group of friends, affectionately known as the “Killer D’s.” He also loved boating and camping on Lake Lanier, where he enjoyed many wonderful times with a large circle of friends.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Tanya; his former wives, Marie Profitt Long and Nancy Yntema Long; his daughter, Angela Long; daughter-in-law, Maureen Long; granddaughter, Micah Long; and grandson, Dylan Long, step- daughter Brook Manigini and granddaughter Mila.

Ronnie’s sense of humor, kindness, and ability to bring joy to those around him will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
