Ruby West Purdie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Milton, Georgia on June 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.

Born in 1943, she was raised on a ranch in Midway, Texas, as the third youngest of ten siblings in a large, close-knit family. Her upbringing instilled in her a deep sense of resilience, work ethic, and warmth that she carried with her throughout her life.

She attended Madisonville High School, where she was a proud member of the girls'
basketball team. After high school, she embarked on a professional career with Liberty
Mutual, working as an underwriter in the Dallas office during the late 1960s. Her talent
and drive earned her a transfer opportunity to Liberty Mutual's Atlanta office — a move
that would change the course of her life.

Shortly after relocating to Atlanta, she met the love of her life, Bill, and the two began a
lifelong journey together filled with devotion, partnership, and deep affection. In 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a challenge she faced with remarkable courage and determination. Despite undergoing continuous treatment for eight years, she lived life with unshakable spirit — even embarking on a three-week trip to China during her initial rounds of chemotherapy. Her strength, optimism, and grace were an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her son, Brian, and daughter-in-law, Jill; her daughter, Deanna; and her cherished granddaughter, Juliet. She will be remembered always for her unwavering love for her family, her inner strength, and her generous heart.

A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to a breast cancer research foundation of your choice.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She will be
deeply missed and forever remembered.
