On Monday, July 10, 2023, Sandra Nahorski, loving mother of Nicholas and beloved grandmother of Abigail and Henry, was called to her home in heaven at the age of 76. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.
Sandy was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Alfred and Earline (Jones) Proscovec. After completing her bachelor's degree, she obtained her Master of Arts in Education from Arizona State University; thereafter, Sandy impacted lives as a special education teacher for Enid Public Schools until her retirement in the early 2000s. On June 13, 1970, she married Kenneth Thomas Nahorski and together they raised their son, Nicholas, in Enid, Oklahoma. Later in life, Sandy and Ken relocated from Brookfield, Wisconsin to Roswell, Georgia, where they enjoyed close friendships with their neighbors and members of their church. Everyone who knew Sandy regarded her as a light in the world. She was generous, kind, and loving to all. She was a thoughtful and dedicated mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend. She always had a kind word and warm smile for those who needed it most, and loved to share her delicious homemade cookies. Her greatest enjoyment was taking her Australian Shepherd, Boaz, on long walks through her neighborhood with her dear friends. Most of all, Sandy loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was an inspiration to many and more than mere words - she lived her faith every day.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Earline, and her husband Ken. She is survived by her son, Nick; daughter in law Natalie (Keinath); and grandchildren, Abigail and Henry. Visitation will be held on July 27, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia, and will be immediately followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. An intimate internment ceremony will follow on July 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Australian Shepherd Rescue, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Lebanon Baptist Church, or the charity of one's choice.
