Scott’s favorite pastime was impacting young lives whether on the court, in the classroom or in the community.

In loving memory we sorrowfully announce the passing of Scott Major Marsho on September 15th, 2026. Born on September 27th, 1968 in Springfield, Illinois to Richard and Lynne Marsho, Scott spent most of his childhood in Peoria, Illinois. Scott attended Richwoods High School and was active in both Varsity basketball and baseball making lifelong friendships and creating core memories that sustained him throughout his life. His often retold stories will live in our hearts and minds forever.

When deciding on further education, Hoosiers basketball topped the list and called him to attend Indiana University in Bloomington. A proud member of Sigma Chi, Scott’s fraternity brothers supported Scott and Kelly in their 1992 wedding and remained close throughout his lifetime. A lasting memory from college was winning the Spirit of Sport basketball championship at his beloved HPER where many an hour were spent on the intramural basketball court. This longstanding 30 year tradition benefitted Special Olympics and resulted in one of his greatest achievements, a keychain he proudly displayed for over 35 years.

Scott began his career with State Farm Insurance in Indianapolis where his daughter, Megan was born. The young family moved to Alpharetta, Georgia in 1998 where they added a son, Brock, and found a community. Scott gave his whole self into bettering his community through active volunteering roles with Meals by Grace and North Fulton Community Charities, although his real passion remained with basketball. Giving of his time and energy selflessly to the Chattahoochee High School basketball feeder program as both a board member and coach he loved spending time with the youth of tomorrow. This love eventually led Scott to accept a position at Taylor Road Middle School in Special Education.

Alpharetta and the surrounding community deeply impacted all aspects of Scott’s life, even causing a former Cubs fan to switch his allegiance to the hometown Braves. Scott was most at home on the sidelines of Brock’s baseball games, Megan’s volleyball matches and occasionally even Kelly’s tennis matches. Scott’s favorite pastime was impacting young lives whether on the court, in the classroom or in the community.

Scott leaves behind a legacy measured not only by his accomplishments, but also those he helped, the young athletes he encouraged and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. Scott is survived by his parents, Dick and Lynne Marsho, brother Steven “Buck” Marsho (Sarah Ridolpho), his wife Kelly and his children Megan and Brock. 

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2027 in Alpharetta, Georgia.
