Obituary

Sharon Lynn Lockwood, 88, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, with her loving family by her side in Milton, Georgia. A woman of strong faith, Sharon was looking forward to the joy and peace she'd find in the next stage of her journey; in Heaven.

Born in Ashland, Kentucky on October 15, 1937, Sharon graduated from Ashland High School in 1955. She attended Bethany College, got married, and embraced her greatest passion and joy of raising her family. In 1979, while in her early forties and raising three children, Sharon returned to school and earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from DeKalb Community College. Her dedication and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her. She went on to manage several dental practices throughout her professional career. Early on, with the incorporation of the City of Milton in 2006, Sharon also became an active and devoted volunteer with the Milton Disability Awareness Committee "MDAC", where she was proud to contribute within her community.

In her later years, Sharon treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved participating in activities and games with her many dear friends at Vitality Assisted Living in Milton, where she spent the last eight years of her life surrounded by a caring community.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Maxine Wagner of Ashland, Kentucky, and by her former husband, William Lockwood.

She is survived by her three children; Joe Lockwood (Dawn), Carolyn Lockwood, and Jim Lockwood (Robin); her sister, Michelle Wagner of Racine, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Morgan Patterson (Bryce), Evans Lockwood (Carley), and Charlie Lockwood; and two great-grandchildren, Lily and Mia Patterson, with another great-grandchild on the way, whom she was very excited to meet.
A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Highway, Milton, Georgia, with Reverend John Wolf officiating.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of Sharon's friends and extended family for their love, support, and compassion during this time of loss. Special appreciation is also extended to her wonderful friends at Vitality Assisted Living, whom she considered a second family, as well as the caring and dedicated staff and leadership there. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Agape Hospice, led by Frida, and for the exceptional love and support from Precious Hands, especially Marie, who became part of Sharon's family over the past year.

Sharon was known by all as someone with great determination and a great positive attitude as she endured many physical challenges over the last 20 years.
