Shirley Ann Byron, beloved wife of Ernest Byron, and mother of Linda and Stephen passed away, January 15, 2025. Shirley was born on September 13, 1934, in Fall River, Massachusetts. She graduated from BMC Durfee high school with high honors in 1952. Upon Ernie's graduation from U-Mass Dartmouth in 1959, Shirley, Ernie, Linda and Steve left Fall River for Rockville, MD.
While in Maryland Shirley worked for the Riggs Distler Corp. and for the International Woodworking and Machinery Manufacturer's Association (WMMA). At WMMA she was an Assistant to the Assn. Director, marketing and selling space for the association's biennial fair in Atlanta, GA. Shirley was also in charge of WMMA's Student Design Program, organizing and directing students' activities.
On her retirement in 1994 she did volunteer work supporting the Activities Director at an assisted living community in Howard County, MD. For entertainment Shirley loved watching the kids play baseball and softball and other games, playing bridge, bowling and shopping. She also loved cooking and entertaining her friends and neighbors at happy hour.
Following a brief illness in 2017, she and Ernie moved from Maryland to Atlanta to be near her beloved son, Stephen, and her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her husband Ernie, her daughter Linda, Lindas' husband Jim, her Daughter-in-law Julie, her grandchildren Chris, Michael, Matthew, Stephanie and Niko, and her great-grandson, Stephen.
