Stephen Edward Bridgman went to be with our Lord, on Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old. He died at WellStar North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA.

He received his college education at Milliken University. During his career he worked at Wagners Casting Manufacturing Company as their chief chemist. In 1982 he worked at Baird Corporation in Boston, MA. In this position he was instrumental in developing computerized spectrometers, travelling nationally introducing these new computerized analyzers to the steel industry. He belonged to the society of advanced engineers. He also enjoyed working as a football official for the high schools in Decatur, Il. & Mt. Zion School Districts.

Gardening vegetables and flowers were his specialties, especially his roses. He also enjoyed traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Amy Bridgman, daughter Loreen Minten and stepdaughter Sherri Bourne.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Fausta Overton Bridgman, sons, Patrick (Julie) Bridgman, Loren (Sheri) Bridgman, stepson Merle Bourne III, daughter Kellijo Leach (Tom). He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9th, 4:00PM- 5:00PM at Faith Baptist Church of South Shores, 875 West Grove Road, Decatur, IL. 62521. The family memorial service immediately following at 5:00PM.
