It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Ernst, of Alpharetta GA, on October 7, 2024.
For 81 years, Sue was a beloved wife, mother, and teacher.
Susan Elizabeth Bittinger was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 12, 1943, to Dr. Ralph and Anna Bittinger of Hanover, PA. She graduated from Eichelberger High School and later Penn State University with her husband of 58 years, William Ernst. Sue and Bill moved to Roswell, GA in 1973 to pursue careers in education and raise their 3 children.
She retired from teaching at High Meadows School in 2006, but stayed active in children's education and was a frequent volunteer with the Animal Ministry at Unity North Atlanta and Happy Tails.
Known for her kind soul, Sue will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sue's family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her husband, William Ernst; son, Mark Ernst; daughters, Barbara Watson and Amanda Finch; grandchildren, William Ernst, Eric and Evan Watson, Trey and Bralen Finch; and her beloved dog, Annie.
