Thomas "Tommy" Gary Etris (June 28, 1942-December 21, 2024), age 82, is survived by sons, David Etris (wife, Cindy) and Kevin Etris (wife, Christine), daughter, Kimberly Martin (husband, Tim), and sister, Sharon Etris. His grandchildren are Lucy Etris, Owen Etris, Anna Etris, Seth Etris (wife, Amanda; children, Tripp and Holden), Conner Etris (wife, Macy; children Leighton and Ryland). Additional survivors include paternal aunt, Fannie Etris Holcombe, who is 105 years-old, nephew, Timothy Channell, niece, Jamie Wall (children, Cade, and Lucas) and cousins. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, James "Jim" and Lillian Etris and all his other maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.
Tommy worked in the family business, Etris Sausage Company in Crabapple, Georgia and eventually co-owned the business until it closed. He continued as a butcher with Ingles Supermarkets and was instrumental in setting up the meat departments in new stores. With his natural skills for fixing things, he later worked in maintenance until he retired.
In his later years, Tommy moved to Bostwick, GA, to run the Etris Family Farm started by his father, Jim. Facing aging and health issues, he had to leave his preferred farming life to return to his home in Canton near his children and sister.
Visitation will take place at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tommy's memory to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
