Obituary

Tom Sprenger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 3, 1936, to George and Loretta Sprenger, Tom was the first of five boys in a lively and energetic family. He grew up in a home filled with laughter, love, and a strong sense of family.

Tom graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo in 1954 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University in 1958. After college, he joined the family business, Sprenger's Men's Wear Stores, in Toledo, where he worked alongside his brothers for many years. In 1965, Tom moved to Monroe, Michigan, to oversee the family's operations at the Monroe Shopping Center, marking the beginning of his long and successful career in retail.

Tom retired after 25 years at La-Z-Boy Chair Company in Monroe, MI, where he oversaw the creation and expansion of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery.

A man who thrived in social settings, Tom enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He was an outgoing and engaging personality who remained deeply connected with lifelong family friends, some of whom he had known since childhood in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Toledo.

Tom was a member at the Monroe Golf and Country Club, the Catawba Island Club in Catawba, Ohio, and the Wildcat Run Golf and Country Club in Estero, Florida.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Gallagher) Sprenger; his children, Tony (Gina) Sprenger, Tracy (Jeff) Underwood, and Tricia (Rob) Graham; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and his three brothers, Mark, Fritz, and Pat Sprenger. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Al Sprenger.
Tom will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His love, laughter, and enduring presence will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration mass will be held on January 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, GA.
