Obituary

Thomas David Swank, 64, passed away January 16th, 2025 at 12:09 pm surrounded by loved ones at Northside Cherokee Hospital, Canton, GA.
Tom was born on May 13th, 1960, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, the son of David Lee and Joan Ellen Rolf Swank. He married Ann Rachel Lawrence on April 17, 1993, at Evelyn Chapel in Bloomington, Il; she survives.
Tom is also survived by his two children, Madelynn Swank, Hudson, OH, and David Swank, Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by two sisters, Tina (Ed) Beyer of Woodstock, GA and Terri (Ron, deceased) White of Frisco, TX. Tom was also Uncle to many nieces and nephews and two great nieces.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Timothy Swank.
Tom graduated from Moline High School in 1979 and attended and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1983. At Eastern Illinois, Tom was a member and President of his fraternity, Phi Sigma Epsilon. Tom spent 40 years working as a Sales and Marketing Executive for consumer and commercial products companies. Tom was Sales and Marketing Manager with First Brands/The Clorox Company for 15 years; Vice President General Manager Consumer Products Group of Oil-Dri Corporation of America for 12 years and Vice President of Sales for Turtle Wax, Inc and most recently Beaumont Products, Inc. before semi-retiring.
Tom together with wife Ann were the loving, guiding influence in raising their two children in the Chicago suburb and "Mayberry-esque" Village of Clarendon Hills, IL. Tom was an avid golfer and over the years golfed in a league at Cog Hill in Lemont, IL and recently at Crystal Falls Lake and Golf Club in Dawsonville, GA. Tom achieved several hole-in ones in his lifetime and one of his greatest joys was teaching his children to golf. He also had a passion for fly fishing and loved fishing the Norfork River in Arkansas. Above all else, providing for his family was his number one priority. Tom also deeply valued his friendships both lifelong and new. Faith in God was important to Tom and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Westmont, IL and a member of the MOB (Men of Bethel).
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Tom will be held at BETHEL LUTHERN CHURCH 36 N GRANT St, WESTMONT, IL 60559 on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Following the service, the family will host a reception at Tierra Distillery in Clarendon Hill, IL.
