Obituary

Tommy Marion Partin born on September 3, 1937, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away on April 25, 2023, at age 85.
​He was born in Teague, Texas to the late Lester Graham Partin and Tommy's beloved mother, Pauline Knight Partin. He graduated from DeQuincy High School in DeQuincy, Louisiana in 1956 where he lettered in three sports, won the state 4X4 relay race, served as his class president, and was voted best personality. Tommy went on to earn a degree from McNeese State University and began his career in the Army in May of 1961 as a 2nd lieutenant.
​Tommy was a highly decorated officer receiving such honors as the National Defense Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Bronze Star Medal- 2nd oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal- 1st oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal (1st class), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Staff Service Medal (1st class), Meritorious Unit Citation (2D Award), Parachute badge, and Senior Parachute badge. As part of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles), Tommy served the majority of his career as the Adjutant General and ascended to the rank of Colonel. He retired after 26 years of service to our country.
​Tommy is predeceased by his mother Pauline Miller and his brother Lester Graham Partin, Jr. and survived by his wife Nellie of 40 years, his daughters Julie Partin-Adams, Deborah DeBartola (Chip), Linda Coyle (Tim), stepdaughter Denise Wilkinson (Sam), and stepson Kevin Heath (Annette), thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, his brother Billy Partin (Jackie) and his sister Glenda Dupuis (Keith) and many nieces and nephews.
​He cherished his family, and they brought him immense joy and happiness. He was beloved by his family and his many friends. Tommy will be greatly missed, but we are assured we will see him again one day in Heaven.
​A memorial service will be held at Northside Chapel in Roswell, Georgia on April 29 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The family will receive visitors following the funeral service. Full military honors will be received at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
