Vikrambhai Natvarlal Mehta passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the age of 73. Vikram was born in Dahod, Gujarat India on March 24, 1950 to Natvarlal and Lalitaben Mehta. He was a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a great friend.

Vikram attended college in Gujarat and received a Bachelor of Science in Botany. He moved to the US in 1973 to study medical technology in Chicago. In 1975, he moved to Sterling Heights, Michigan and worked at a medical laboratory.

On January 1, 1978, Vikram married Dipti, the love of his life. Vikram and Dipti were blessed with two children: Ami (Andy) and Amar (Kelly), and six grandchildren: Rohan, Bella, Leela, Karina, Veda, and Nora.

Vikram was a man of many talents and interests. He worked as a laboratory technician and later as a small business owner. After retirement, Vikram and Dipti split their time between sunny Raleigh, NC, with Amar and family, and not-so sunny Lake Orion, MI, with Ami and family.

Uncle Vik loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was the first one to pick-up family from the airport and take kids to dance and sports practices. He referred to himself as the Gadiwala (driver) and even drove for Uber for a few years to pass time and share his wisdom with the Raleigh Community. Vikram recently traveled to India, where he visited family and showed his grandchildren around his hometown.

Vikrambhai was an active member of the Metro Detroit Community, supporting Gujarati Samaj, Anavil Samaj, and Nadanta. Vikram was the president of Gujarati Samaj in the early 2000s. He supported Nadanta in a variety of different roles, including: volunteering as an usher, managing the ticket booth, and performing as a character actor.

Vikram was a fighter. He survived a stroke in 2010 and a heart-attack in 2018. His strength carried him through his final days.

Along with his parents, Vikram was preceded in death by his siblings: Sumitra, Vinod, and Neela. He is survived by his older brothers Kirit and Ashok, his wife Dipti, daughter Ami (Andy), son Amar (Kelly) and grandchildren: Rohan, Bella, Leela, Karina, Veda, and Nora.

The funeral service to honor the life of Vikram will be held on Tuesday January 30, 8:30AM at Northside Chapel 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, Georgia 30075. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for February 24, 2024 in Metro Detroit.
