Vincent Joyce Scully Jr. (1952-2023)
Jay was born in Queens, NY, the eldest of 6 children of Vincent Scully and Joan Cunningham. Jay passed peacefully on October 9th in his home in Roswell, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood and knew early on that he wanted to be a Soldier. He enlisted in the Army immediately following his graduation from Pelham Memorial High School and later entered the United States Military Academy at West Point with the Class of 1975. His graduation from West Point was one of his proudest achievements. Jay served his country proudly and honorably as an Infantry Officer for 25 years. After retiring from the Army, he worked for IBM Corporation as a consultant until he finally retired in 2017.
Jay adored his family, West Point, and his country. He loved lacrosse and coached Roswell youth for many years. He was an avid reader and student of Military History. Those who knew and loved him enjoyed listening to his many stories. Jay is survived by his wife, Anette of 33 years; sons Matthew and Michael; his mother; three sisters, Mary, Joan, and Barbara; and his brother Keith.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2 o'clock.
Jay will be laid to rest at his beloved United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.
