With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allen Wayne Mabry, 75, who left us peacefully at his home in Woodstock, Georgia, on May 23, 2025, following an extended illness.
Born in Fulton County on September 8, 1949, Wayne was the oldest son of the late W.L. "Pug" and Sara Lane Mabry. Though born in Sandy Springs, the family moved to Roswell in 1956, and Wayne wholeheartedly embraced life in the then-small town. Throughout his youth, "Little Pug," as he was known then, was a standout athlete, excelling in school and recreational sports including football, baseball, and track and field. A gifted athlete, Wayne's remarkable athletic achievements at Roswell High School earned him induction into the Roswell High School Hall of Fame Class of 2015.
Track 4-year letterman; set multiple school records at the time; State Class B Championships: Mile Relay (1st), 440 (1st and two-time runner-up), Broad Jump (2nd and 3rd).
Football 4-year letterman; State Class B Championship: 1968, finishing the season 13-0 under Coach Charlie Horne and marking the first undefeated team in RHS history; twice honored as the AJC Player of the Week honoree.

Wayne graduated from Roswell High School in 1969. He briefly attended Reinhardt College before being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He honorably served his country for nearly three years, primarily at Fort Bragg in paratrooper training with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Wayne followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, embarking on a career as a carpenter. He quickly mastered the trade, becoming a Master Carpenter and dedicating the rest of his life to crafting everything from custom cabinets to homes with immense pride, skill and care.
Outside of his profession, Wayne harbored a lifelong passion for automobiles, evident in his dedication to collecting and restoring vintage cars. He was also a skilled race car driver, winning numerous races across the Southeast. Wayne's love extended to animals; he treated them as cherished companions. He lovingly cared for many dogs throughout his life, including his beloved Basset Hound, Gracie, and most recently, his faithful dog, Tiger. He also tended many livestock, including competition horses, mules, and alpacas.
Wayne was a faithful Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Roswell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. "Pug" and Sara Mabry, as well as his beloved Gracie and Tiger.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Randy Mabry (Cathy) of High Point, NC; his daughter, Stephanie (Carter) of Greenville, SC; and his cherished grandchildren, Addison, Campbell, and Jack Hollis of Greenville, SC, of whom he was exceptionally proud. He also leaves behind his stepmother, Sandra Mabry of Roswell, GA, extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and a loyal circle of lifelong and recent friends who considered him family. The family is ever grateful for the loving care and friendship they showed to Wayne.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. After the service, all who loved Wayne are invited to a celebration of his life at Rooster's in Cumming from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm.
Wayne's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, remembering his dedication, skilled hands, countless stories and loving heart.
